ClimateChange and its numerous consequences, e.g., frequent drought conditions have led to a steady increase in frequency and intensity of dust and sand storms in various parts of the World. Increasing the severity of such storms is expected to continue over the coming years. Dust-and sand storms, which present environmental and health risks (such as desertification, respiratory diseases and others) and can influence the regional climate, have worsened also in the Middle East region over the last decade (1). Sand and dust storms (SDS) play an integral role in the Earth system but they also present a range of hazards to the environmental and economic sustainability of human society. These hazards are of
