La fatigue de compassion, les traumatismes vicariants et le burn-out des soignants sont des risques souvent minimisés et trop peu pris en compte. La culture médicale semble particulièrement peu encline à reconnaître ces éventuelles souffrances. L’expérience d’une psychologue clinicienne évoluant dans un CHU est ici proposée.
Cet article propose, au travers de notre expérience de psychologue clinicienne vouée à l’accompagnement de soignants, d’explorer les vécus à potentiel traumatique que rencontrent les soignants. Les traumatismes directs (primaires), secondaires ou vicariants, peuvent impacter avec une intensité variable les soignants. Ces phénomènes sont souvent peu connus, et un accompagnement précoce et structuré peut contribuer à éviter que ne se chronicisent des difficultés d’ordre post-traumatique. Les dispositifs individuels ou collectifs que nous proposons seront décrits.
