causing an appreciable but transient increase in free thyroxine, and it is only a matter of time before the same effect is reported with diclofenac. If the beneficial effect of excess thyroid hormones was a stimulatory unphysiological effect it is surprising that it is not found in naturally occurring thyrotoxicosis. It is much more reasonable to conclude that patients are often better on rather larger doses of thyroxine than has been recommended by Evered et al.1
