Probleemstelling en opzetAnd they shall win no more with all, but a scale of silver weighing 6 ounces! I would to God that some of our gentlemen and noblemen of England had seen this (I mean them that think the world is made of oatmeal) and then it would make them to think that there are others as we are. And so provide for the time to come: for they that can do this, can do more.(Antwerpen, 4 augustus 1561, fragment uit het verslag van Richard Clough over het begin van het landjuweel aan zijn meester, Sir Thomas Gresham, koninklijk handelaar en adviseur van Elisabeth I.
