Le présent article cherchera à expliciter pourquoi l’idée mérite d’être soutenue selon laquelle certains locuteurs allophones vivant en français et en francophonie depuis de nombreuses années sont des locuteurs francophones à part entière, malgré leurs particularités. Afin d’explorer au mieux cette hypothèse, j’analyserai deux entretiens semi-dirigés menés avec Eugeniusz et André en été 2022 pour identifier leur style de parole respectif en termes de marques d’endogénéité et d’altérité, mais aussi de compétences communicationnelles globales. Je lierai alors ces éléments, dans une perspective émique et compréhensive, avec la subjectivité de chacun des deux frères telle qu’elle s’exprime dans leur discours sur leur vie et leurs pratiques en français pour souligner la cohérence entre la texture de leur répertoire francophone et les processus subjectifs et sociaux qui structurent leur pratiques langagières. Montrer que ces locuteurs sont identifiables à la fois comme rattachés à une certaine région francophone et comme issus d’origines étrangères me permettra de questionner le pouvoir donné (ou retiré) par la langue, si l’on souhaite approfondir la réflexion sur ce que signifie, pour des personnes immigrées de longue date, être francophones.
