Diagnostyka prenatalna stanowi jedno z największych osiągnięć współczesnej perinatologii. Dzięki niej można we wczesnym stadium ciąży uzyskać istotne informacje o zagrożeniach dla płodu oraz podjąć racjonalne działania prewencyjne bądź lecznicze. Szacuje się, iż w ogólnej populacji u 2-4% żywo urodzonych noworodków rozpoznawana jest przynajmniej 1 wada wrodzona. Częstość występowania chorób uwarunkowanych genetycznie oraz wad wrodzonych uzmysławia, jak wiele rodzin jest obciążonych problemami natury psychologicznej i społecznej.Cel pracy. Celem pracy było poznanie opinii kobiet ciężarnych na temat diagnostyki prenatalnej.Materiał i metody. Materiał kliniczny obejmował grupę 105 ciężarnych, które poddały się diagnostyce prenatalnej: 79 z nich było w grupie ryzyka wystąpienia wady wrodzonej (grupa A), 26 nie miało bezpośrednich wskazań medycznych do przeprowadzenia diagnostyki prenatalnej (grupa B). Badanie przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem kwestionariuszy ankiety (Kwestionariusz Percepcji Ryzyka Genetycznego, Kwestionariusz Postaw Wobec Diagnostyki Prenatalnej oraz Kwestionariusz Diagnostyki Prenatalnej autorstwa Kornas-Bieli). Analizę statystyczną przeprowadzono za pomocą programu statystycznego STATISTICA 10.Wyniki. Wykazano istotną statystycznie różnicę pomiędzy grupami pod względem: wieku, liczby posiadanych dzieci oraz czasu potrzebnego do namysłu od momentu uzyskania informacji o możliwości poddania się diagnostyce a podjęciem decyzji o jej przeprowadzeniu. Wykazano istotną statystycznie zależność pomiędzy liczbą posiadanych dzieci a dopuszczalnością przerwania ciąży.Wnioski. Diagnostyka prenatalna jest akceptowana przez ciężarne. Aprobują one badania prenatalne, nawet jeśli stwierdzona na ich podstawie nieprawidłowość nie jest możliwa do wyleczenia. Zarówno ciężarnym posiadającym wskazania medyczne do przeprowadzenia badań prenatalnych, jak i tym, które zdecydowały się na nie mimo braku wskazań, towarzyszyło takie samo uczucie lęku. Kobiety posiadające potomstwo uważają aborcję ze względu na wadę płodu za niedopuszczalną.
