Digitale Kompetenzmodelle unterliegen regelmässigen Updates und Erweiterungen im Zuge der technologischen Entwicklungen. Viele beziehen sich weiterhin auf ursprüngliche Modelle der Medienpädagogik und doch scheinen vor dem Hintergrund einer Kultur der Digitalität einige Leerstellen noch wenig ausgeleuchtet: Werden digitale Kompetenzmodelle mit den Ideen zur Kultur der Digitalität (Stalder 2016) verbunden, so drängen drei Dimensionen ins Blickfeld, die in bisherigen Kompetenzmodellen zu fehlen scheinen. Wie und wo diese drei Dimensionen «Transformation», «Haltung» und «Gleichzeitigkeit» eingebunden werden können, um möglichst grossen Nutzen für die Medienkompetenzdebatte zu entfalten, aber auch, wie Menschen die mit diesen Dimensionen verbundenen übergreifenden und wenig fassbaren Kompetenzen herausbilden könnten, wird ins Zentrum des Beitrags gestellt. Dabei wird deutlich, dass alle drei Dimensionen als basale Grundfolien dienen können, um aus dieser Perspektive die Herausbildung von Kompetenzen für eine zeitgleich analoge und digitale Lebenswelt zu ermöglichen. In diesem Kontext erhalten die Bestimmung, Entwicklung und Verinnerlichung der individuellen Werte für das eigene Leben im Zuge eines lebenslangen Lernens eine wesentliche Rolle.
