Wprowadzenie i cel pracy. Materiał i metody.
Background Persistent structural changes of the lungs in anorexia nervosa (AN) patients are rarely described in contemporary medical literature. The objective of our paper is to report a rare case of severe bronchiectasis and inflammatory changes to the lungs resulting from chronic malnutrition in a AN patient. Case presentation We describe a patient with severe inflammatory lung disease caused by malnutrition, resulting in persistent bronchiectasis accompanying AN. We performed an analysis of the patient’s medical records including radiological findings and laboratory results. A review of available literature shows very little data available on this topic. Conclusion Bronchiectasis and other structural changes of the lungs are rare, but severe complications of severe, chronic malnutrition. As exemplified by our case report, they may require extensive differential diagnosis and pose a significant clinical challenge due to their non-reversible character. A successful treatment relies heavily on the patient’s compliance and may be hard to achieve. Clinicians managing patients with anorexia nervosa should be wary of early respiratory tract dysfunction-related symptoms and always consider malnutrition bronchiectasis as a differential diagnosis option.
The purpose of the article is to study the biography of B.M. Gordon as a successful security officer in the 1920-s and 1930-s. He worked his way up the career ladder from a junior investigator to the head of regional divisions – territorial bodies of the VChK/GPU/OGPU/NKVD and the legal residency of the INO GUGB of NKVD in Germany. Having started his chekist service in the Orel province, he served in the South – Central Asia, in the North – in Arkhangelsk province,in the capital of the USSR, and in the capital of Nazi Germany – Berlin. Gordon fought with the white guards and evicted the dispossessed peasants, controlled the Soviet military and gathered information about the armies of foreign countries; he managed to work at both Soviet and party work. Finally, the energetic work and successful career led Boris Moiseyevich Gordon to his death, when in 1937, J.V. Stalin decided to destroy completely all the former operational leadership of the state security agencies, replacing it with new personnel.
The purpose of the article is to study the financial and economic sphere of penitentiary institutions of the Orel province in the 19th - early 20th centuries. The income consisted of funding through the State Treasury, the funds from benefactors, and the labor of prisoners. Expenses included staff sala-ries, the main part of which was paid by the state via the local Treasury, and the additional part, in the form of bonus money, was withdrawn from the payment for the work of prisoners. Prison build-ings maintenance, the construction of new buildings and structures; maintenance of prisoners; pro-duction in prison needed current expenses. To reduce costs, penitentiary institutions conducted subsistence farming – they maintained farms, vegetable gardens, fattened pigs, produced many items of prison use by the prisoners themselves, and performed construction and repair work.
