A copper‐oxide‐based catalyst enriched with paramelaconite (Cu4O3) is presented and investigated as an electrocatalyst for facilitating electroreduction of CO2 to ethylene and other hydrocarbons. Cu4O3 is a member of the copper‐oxide family and possesses an intriguing mixed‐valance nature, incorporating an equal number of Cu+ and Cu2+ ions in its crystal structure. The material is synthesized using a solvothermal synthesis route and its structure is confirmed via powder X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope based selected area electron diffraction, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. A flow reactor equipped with a gas diffusion electrode is utilized to test a copper‐based catalyst enriched with the Cu4O3 phase under CO2 reduction conditions. The Cu4O3‐rich catalyst (PrC) shows a Faradaic efficiency for ethylene over 40% at 400 mA cm−2. At −0.64 versus reversible hydrogen electrode, the highest C2+/C1 product ratio of 4.8 is achieved, with C2+ Faradaic efficiency over 61%. Additionally, the catalyst exhibits a stable performance for 24 h at a constant current density of 200 mA cm−2.

Volatile copper(I) benzoates with variable degrees of fluorination are used for p-doping of organic hole-transport layers in single-carrier devices, charge-generation layers, and in organic light-emitting diodes. The charge-transport abilities of the doped materials correlate with the degree and position of the fluorination on the aromatic ring of the carboxylate groups.

Ten new efficient p-dopants for conductivity doping of organic semiconductors for OLEDs are identified. The key advantage of the electrophilic tris(carboxylato) bismuth(III) compounds is the unique low absorption of the resulting doped layers which promotes the efficiency of OLED devices. The combination of these features with their low fabrication cost, volatility, and stability, make these materials very attractive as dopants in organic electronics.

We demonstrate the usage of the Lewis-acidic copper(II)hexafluoroacetylacetonate (Cu(hfac)2) and copper(II)trifluoroacetylacetonate (Cu(tfac)2) as low-cost p-dopants for conductivity enhancement of solution processable hole transport layers based on small molecules in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). The materials were clearly soluble in mixtures of environmentally friendly anisole and xylene and spin-coated under ambient atmosphere. Enhancements of two and four orders of magnitude, reaching 4.0 × 10−11 S/cm with a dopant concentration of only 2 mol% Cu(hfac)2 and 1.5 × 10−9 S/cm with 5 mol% Cu(tfac)2 in 2,2′,7,7′-tetra(N,N-ditolyl)amino-9,9-spiro-bifluorene (spiro-TTB), respectively, were achieved. Red light emitting diodes were fabricated with reduced driving voltages and enhanced current and power efficiencies (8.6 lm/W with Cu(hfac)2 and 5.6 lm/W with Cu(tfac)2) compared to the OLED with undoped spiro-TTB (3.9 lm/W). The OLED with Cu(hfac)2 doped spiro-TTB showed an over 8 times improved LT50 lifetime of 70 h at a starting luminance of 5000 cd/m2. The LT50 lifetime of the reference OLED with PEDOT:PSS was only 8 h. Both non-optimized OLEDs were operated at similar driving voltage and power efficiency.

Zehn neue p‐Dotanden für die Leitfähigkeitsdotierung von organischen Halbleitern wurden identifiziert. Der wesentliche Vorteil der elektrophilen Tris(carboxylato)‐Bismut(III)‐Verbindungen ist die niedrige Absorption der damit dotierten Schichten. Diese Eigenschaft zusammen mit ihren niedrigen Herstellungskosten sowie der guten Verdampfbarkeit und Stabilität macht diese Dotanden sehr attraktiv für Anwendungen in der organischen Elektronik.
