Migration,d as finden wir normal -mit Blick auf die Vergangenheit, die Gegenwart und die Zukunft.E uropäischeN ationen, aber auch die vorstaatlichen regionalen Einheiten und das heutige geographische Deutschland waren immer schon durch Aus-und Abwanderung gekennzeichnet. Bereits im 15. Jahrhundert begannen die Europäer 1 in die Welt zu ziehen und läuteten damit das Zeitalter des Kolonialismuse in (vgl.O ltmer 2012). Seitdem wird von ›Migration‹ im globalen Maßstab gesprochen. Circa zehnM io. Menschen sind zwischen dem Eintreffenv on Kolumbus1492 und 1820 nach Nord-und Südamerika gezogen. Davon kamen rund zwei Mio. aus Europa und acht Mio. unfreiwillig durch Sklaverei aus Afrika. Gleichzeitig dezimierte sich die einheimische Gesamtbevölkerung in Süd-und Mittelamerika, vorallem durchKrankheiten, von40Mio. zur vorkolumbianischen Zeit auf vier Mio. 1620. Es ist demnach bis in das frühe 20. Jahrhundert hinein zu einem weitreichenden Wandel in der Zusammensetzung der Bevölkerung gekommen. Im 18. und 19. Jahrhundertg ab es eine massivee uropäische Emigration, bedingt durch ein Missverhältnis vonB evölkerungswachstum und Erwerbsangebot in der europäischen Heimat. Es wanderten circa5 5b is 60 Mio. Europäer aus. Auch in anderen Teilen der Welt emigrierten die Menschen.Zwischen 1846 und 1932 verließen ca. 28 Mio. Inder und ca. elf Mio. Chinesen ihre Heimat, um den hohen Bedarf an Arbeit z. B. in europäischen Kolonien abzudecken. Im 20. Jahrhundert ward er Zweite Weltkrieg ein zentrales Ereignis für Flucht und Vertreibung. Die Zahl der Flüchtlinge, Deportierten und Vertriebenen während dieser Zeit wird auf ca. 50 bis 60 Mio. Menschen geschätzt -10 %der damaligen europäischen Bevölkerung (vgl.Oltmer 2012). Seit 1945 gab und gibt es verschiedene, große Flüchtlingsbewegungen nach Deutschland (zunächst Westdeutschland).
