JEL Classification: G21Streszczenie: Sytuacja Landesbanken w Niemczech jest przedmiotem dyskusji w środowisku zarówno naukowym, jak i bankowym. Umiędzynarodowienie i próby ujednolicenia europejskiego rynku finansowego spowodowały liczne ograniczenia w działalności Landesbanken w Niemczech, m.in. zlikwidowano specjalne gwarancje wypłacalności dla Landesbanken przez ich właścicieli oraz zobowiązano je do oddzielenia działalności w obszarze wspierania rozwoju gospodarki regionalnej. Poza tym chęć zwiększenia rentowności kapitału skłoniła je do podejmowania ogromnego ryzyka inwestycyjnego na rynkach finansowych, którego konsekwencją stały się problemy z płynnością finansową i wypłacalnością banków. Celem artykułu jest analiza rentowności Landesbanken w Niemczech przeprowadzona za pomocą klasycznych wskaźników rentowności. Ponadto w artykule przedstawiono problemy, z jakimi od lat borykają się Landesbanken w Niemczech.
Udział sektora MŚP w całkowitej liczbie przedsiębiorstw działających na rynku sprawia, że stanowią one ważny element w gospodarce Niemiec. Efektywność ich funkcjonowania i poziom innowacyjności będzie determinować stopień konkurencyjności kraju. Każde przedsiębiorstwo do prowadzenia działalności bieżącej i realizacji projektów inwestycyjnych potrzebuje finansowania. Problem ten jest szczególnie widoczny w przypadku MŚP, które ze swej natury borykają się z ograniczeniami zasobowymi, zwłaszcza finansowymi. Źródła kapitału najogólniej można podzielić na wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne. Wewnętrzne pochodzą od właścicieli przedsiębiorstwa lub zostały przez nich wypracowane w trakcie działalności. Deepening globalisation and liberalisation on the market of banking services make banks worldwide concentrate their capitals. Carefully planned mergers and acquisitions within financial sector are supposed to rise the scale of the businesses and increase their values. This paper is aimed at presenting mergers and acquisitions in German banking sector, focusing only on transactions within particular sub-sectors of German banking system. The analysis covered consolidation processes of all sub-sectors of German banking sector. The most important mergers and acquisitions observed since the financial crisis were presented.
