Asymmetrische Olefinmetathesen haben aufgrund der vielseitigen Einsetzbarkeit als C-C-Verknüpfungsmethode unter neutralen und milden Bedingungen ein großes Potenzial. [1] Stabile Ru-Katalysatoren sind wegen der leichten Handhabung und großen Toleranz gegenüber funktionellen Gruppen von besonderem Interesse.[2] Die bisher bekannten chiralen Ru-Metathesekatalysatoren sind alle von a,a'-disubstituierten Diaminen abgeleitet und enthalten demzufolge einen 3,4-disubstituierten N-heterocyclischen Carben-Liganden (NHC) (Abbildung 1). Die Übertragung der chiralen Information auf das reaktive Metallzentrum erfolgt im Fall der von Grubbs [3] entwickelten Komplexe 1 mit einzähnigen Liganden wie auch bei den Varianten von Collins [4] durch nicht frei rotierbare N-Arylsubstituenten. Im Fall der Hoveyda-Komplexe 2 mit zweizähnigen Liganden erfolgt die Übertragung durch eine stereokontrollierte Halogenidsubstitution mit einem Phenolderivat, was allerdings mit einer signifikanten Minderung der Reaktivität dieser Komplexe einhergeht. [5] N-arylsubstituierte Komplexe sind im Allgemeinen deutlich stabiler als N-alkylsubstituierte, [4,6] insbesondere wenn durch ortho-Substitution eine Insertion in die C-H-Bindung und die damit verbundene Desaktivierung verhindert wird. [7] Den 3,4-Substituenten im NHC-Rückgrat kommt neben der Induzierung von Chiralität eine weitere Bedeutung zu: Sie können die Stabilität von Ru-Carbenkomplexen erhöhen, wie sowohl mithilfe von DFT-Rechnungen [8] als auch experimentell gezeigt wurde.[9] Chirale disubstituierte Komplexe wie 1 zeigen aber auch im Unterschied zu deren achiralen Analoga, dem Grubbs-II-und Hoveyda-II-Präkatalysator, eine Verdrillung beider N-Arylsubstituenten, was unserer Meinung nach deren Reaktivität beeinträchtigen sollte.Im Rahmen unserer Untersuchungen zu unsymmetrisch substituierten NHC-Komplexen haben wir nun erstmals im NHC-Rückgrat monosubstituierte Verbindungen mit zwei verschiedenen N-Aryleinheiten hergestellt und deren Eigenschaften und Reaktivitäten getestet. Unser Ziel war dabei, durch den C3-Substituenten eine möglichst starke Verdrillung des monosubstituierten Arylrings und damit einen optimalen Chiralitätstransfer zu erzielen.[10] Gleichzeitig wollten wir mit einem planaren Mesitylsubstituenten [11] eine reaktivitäts-mindernde sterische Hinderung vermeiden. Wir berichten hier über einen neuen Typ chiraler Katalysatoren, der sich durch hohe Stabilität bei gleichzeitig hoher Reaktivität auszeichnet und der bei der asymmetrischen Ringöffnungs-kreuzmetathese (AROCM) ausgezeichnete E-Selektivitäten sowie Enantioselektivitäten zeigt.Als Startmaterial für die Ligandensynthese verwendeten wir l-Valin, das unter Cu-Katalyse mit Arylhalogeniden gekuppelt und anschließend zu 4 a,b reduziert wurde (Schema 1).
