Cette recherche s’intéresse à l’impact de l’orientation régulatrice sur le traitement de l’information contre-attitudinale. Une expérimentation est réalisée auprès de 190 individus. Les résultats montrent que les messages orientés promotion sont perçus plus favorablement que ceux orientés préventions. Par ailleurs, la congruence régulatrice a un effet limité sur le traitement de l’information.
L’excuse représente une stratégie de récupération de service très performante qui peut agir comme catalyseur afin de dissiper les effets négatifs d’un incident et susciter le pardon du client. Cependant, elle n’est pas toujours efficace. Alors que certaines recherches montrent que l’excuse mène au pardon et au rétablissement de la relation entre consommateurs et entreprises, d'autres soulignent l’absence d’impacts sur la récupération de service. La majorité des recherches a étudié l’excuse comme une variable binaire (présence versus absence d’excuse), ce qui ne permet pas de cerner les conditions selon lesquelles la présentation d’excuse pourrait être une stratégie de récupération efficace. Cette recherche met le cap sur l’excuse en tant que stratégie de récupération symbolique. Elle montre l’importance de prendre en considération ses différentes composantes afin de mieux cerner les conditions de son succès.
