This work presents the adopted methodology and\ud
the realized tools for data visualization in the Linguistic Atlas\ud
Of Sicily (ALS) Project. The ALS Project has the purpose\ud
to discovery new trends and variables to track the linguistic\ud
evolution over time and space in Sicily. The project is focused\ud
on how linguistic variables are related to social and economic\ud
aspects of the evolution of population and vice-versa. The\ud
visualization tools are a relevant aspect of the project to\ud
support decisions and disseminate results. One of the major\ud
factors is the geographic dependence of data evolution. To\ud
this aim complex set of tools has been developed: some tools\ud
are stand-alone while others are collaborative and web-based.\ud
This work presents the interconnection between these tools.\ud
We explore the principal phases of the “GIScience” process\ud
with the purpose to obtain valid and useful results for the\ud
researchers involved in the project
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
