Taking the enkephalin synthesis on soluble polyethylene glycol support as a test case, this communication demonstrates the usefulness of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry to monitor each step of coupling as well as removal of the N-terminal protecting group of the polymer-bound growing peptide chain. With minute amounts of sample the high mass accuracy permits detection of side reactions as well as incomplete reaction products. #

The incorporation of biotin, fluorescein and rhodamine phosphoramidites is described. The purification and struc ture determination o f oligo-nucleotides was confirmed using high performance liquid chro matography (H PLC ), capillary electrophoresis (CE) and laser desorption mass spectrometry (LD M S). Several applications and confirming data polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments.
A combination of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE) spiking, Edman degradation, amino acid analysis and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) was applied for the analysis of the primary structure of beta-thymosins. CE has been used to resolve peaks which coelute on HPLC, as well as to help establish the identity of tryptic fragments in the peptide mapping experiments of the two highly homologous beta-thymosins.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
