Resumo. O conceito de Saúde Única baseia-se sobretudo na interrelação existente no trinômio saúde humana, saúde animal e meio-ambiente. Do relacionamento contemporâneo entre os seres humanos e os animais no ambiente que os circundam emergem doenças, dentre elas as zoonoses, transmitidas dos animais ao homem. Levando-se em consideração a leptospirose, uma doença zoonótica, infecciosa, febril, aguda ou crônica de etiologia bacteriana cuja propagação está associada a fatores ambientais, pretende-se discutir, contextualizar e criticar, além da necessidade de adequação da infraestrutura das cidades na sustentação do pleno relacionamento entre os seres humanos e os animais à luz da Saúde Única, medidas profiláticas como a vacinação canina contra a leptospirose, levando-se em conta as atuais diretrizes.
A ocorrência de desastres tecnológicos, como os que são provenientes de rompimento de barragens e cujas consequências no ambiente são de caráter permanente, como a destruição de ecossistemas e a degradação do solo, chamam a atenção para a ocorrência de transmissão de zoonoses, sendo a mais destacada a leptospirose. A partir de um relato de caso de um cão adotado infectado por leptospirose após o rompimento da barragem de rejeitos de minério de ferro em Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, o presente artigo busca discutir de maneira crítica as práticas humanitárias de adoção de animais em estado de vulnerabilidade sem os devidos cuidados de saúde iniciais, suscetíveis a transmissão de doenças.
O relacionamento contemporâneo entre os seres humanos e os animais no ambiente que os circundam aumenta a chance de ocorr ência e transmissão de zoonoses. A estrongiloidíase é uma doença zoonótica de abrangência mundial que pode acometer seres humanos e animais, principalmente cães, e tem como agente etiológico o Strongyloides sp. O presente trabalho traz um relato de caso de cão jovem adquirido de um canil comercial, tendo sido entregue aos novos tutores sem o devido controle parasitário, apresentando sinais de apatia, hiporexia, vômitos e fezes com muco. Dos exames realizados, identificou-se infecção parasitária por S. stercoralis, prontamente tratada com antiparasitários.
Este artigo relata o caso de um cão residente na cidade de São Paulo que desenvolveu sarcocistose, uma endoparasitose não comum e a importância de exames preventivos de rotina para seu diagnóstico e tratamento.
