Therefore, its study should be carried out using a methodology that takes both cognitive aspects into account. The cognitive evolution that best defines our behaviour took place in Prehistory. What was the influence of emotions in this process? This paper elaborates on this topic using an interdisciplinary methodology (Functional Structuralism) as the interpretative basis for the archaeological rational data. The analysis of the influence of emotions on the process has to be conducted on the basis of these data. The role emotions exerted on prehistoric behaviour can only be studied indirectly, whether focusing on behaviours that are clearly related to emotions or on those that necessarily involve some emotional manifestation. Hence, four types of behaviours have been selected. All of them are related to emotions and can be traced archeologically. These are behaviours depending on the capacity for empathy, behaviours reflecting the influence of self-consciousness on their rational 42 | Vínculos de Historia, núm. 4 (2015) and emotional development, behaviours with some degree of control over emotions, and behaviours that depend deeply on motivations derived from emotions.
