Introducción: La planificación familiar brinda el acceso al uso de métodos anticonceptivos que permiten beneficios en la salud sexual y reproductiva. Sin embargo, el no uso de métodos anticonceptivos fundamentalmente en poblaciones vulnerables como la indígena, permite establecer espacios de mayor fecundidad que influye en el desarrollo social y económico de la población. Objetivo: Identificar el uso de anticoncepción en mujeres de la zona rural indígena. Materiales y métodos: Estudio de tipo cuantitativo, observacional descriptivo de corte transversal y de campo. La población es finita ya que está conformada por 100 mujeres en su totalidad que residen en la comunidad de Pulinguí, Cantón Guano (Ecuador). Para la recolección de información se aplicó un cuestionario modificado con revisión bibliográfica y validada por expertos, para el análisis y procesamiento de datos se utilizó el programa estadístico IBM SPSS 21 e informático Excel 2019. Resultados: La edad osciló entre los 36 a 45 años correspondiente al 55%de mujeres. Etnia 97% indígena, Religión 51% evangélica, estado civil 68% casadas, nivel de instrucción 51% primaria, ocupación 53% agricultura. Número de embarazos 283, Número de embarazos no planificados 246. Conocimiento 56% desconocen, fuente de información 46% personal de salud. Método anticonceptivo más utilizado 24% inyectables. Conclusiones: Una gran parte de mujeres no hacen uso de ningún método anticonceptivo, además la aceptabilidad por el uso de métodos como los preservativos, dispositivos intrauterinos y ligadura son mínimos en su elección en comparación a los hormonales.
