Este relato discute a experiência do Grupo de Estudos Diálogos na Pandemia, enfocando as reflexões produzidas sobre saúde, ciências sociais, arte e cultura. Duas questões interrelacionadas orientaram o trabalho do grupo: 1) as possíveis contribuições da universidade para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de enfrentamento ao coronavírus; 2) a construção de conhecimentos e processos de aprendizagem contextualizados pela pandemia. O grupo é formado por docentes e discentes da UFRGS, mas agrega acadêmicos de outras universidades, trabalhadores da saúde e ativistas de movimentos sociais em suas ações. A horizontalidade dos processos de organização do grupo foi um elemento fundamental para o êxito e continuidade das atividades, pois implicou os participantes e incluiu os temas mais urgentes e presentes na sociedade e no cotidiano acadêmico, e que ganharam intensidade no contexto da pandemia.
Este relato de experiência apresenta o trabalho do grupo “Diálogos na Pandemia”, um grupo de estudos surgido no contexto do Bacharelado em Saúde Coletiva da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, organizado como um projeto de extensão. O grupo articulou docentes e discentes da universidade, mas também trabalhadoras da saúde, criando um processo organizativo autônomo e horizontal. Aqui enfocaremos a emergência e a condução de temas e situações relacionadas ao racismo, que se destacaram entre as ações do grupo. O projeto enfatizou a importância de enfrentarmos o racismo para que os princípios de universalidade, igualdade e equidade possam garantir o direito à saúde e proteger a vida da população negra.
