Tyrimo tikslas − apžvelgti perteklines vaikų ligų diagnostikos ir gydymo tendencijas. Į literatūros apžvalgą buvo įtraukti 12 straipsnių, nagrinėjančių perteklinę mediciną. Tyrimo rezultatai: perteklinis antibiotikų ir medicininių tyrimų skyrimas yra ne tik neracionalus, tačiau gali ir pakenkti vaikams. Nepaisant pacientų tėvų ir gydytojų švietimo apie antibiotikus, jų vartojimo ir skyrimo klaidos vis dar aktuali problema. Nepagrįsti diagnostiniai testai vaikams gali sukelti psichologinį diskomfortą ir padidinti radiacinės apšvitos kiekį. Perteklinės medicinos problemą pediatrijoje lemia daugelis veiksnių, tokių kaip gydytojų baimė praleisti retą ligą, noras išvengti galimų ligos komplikacijų bei pacientų tėvų spaudimas. Stebimas gydytojų žinių apie perteklinę mediciną trūkumas. Šiai problemai spręsti buvo prisijungta prie pasauliniu mastu vykdomos iniciatyvos „Rinkis protingai“ (angl. Choosing Wisely), kuri teikia įvairių rekomendacijų ir gairių, kaip sumažinti perteklinį biomedicinos technologijų ir vaistų vartojimą.
Tyrimo tikslas − atlikti literatūros paiešką ir išsiaiškinti lakiųjų organinių junginių (LOJ) sąvoką bei ligų diagnostikos potencialą. Į literatūros apžvalgą buvo įtraukti 9 straipsniai, nagrinėjantys LOJ ir jų taikymo galimybes. Tyrimo rezultatai. Lakieji organiniai junginiai išsiskiria organizme metabolinių reakcijų metu ir gali būti naudojami kaip biožymenys. Iškvepiamo oro mėginių tyrimas yra neinvazyvus ir gali būti naudojamas kvėpavimo takų ir kitų sistemų sutrikimams diagnozuoti. LOJ tyrimams šiuo metu daugiausia naudojami dujų chromatografijos-masių spektrometrijos ir elektroninės nosies metodai. Iškvepiamame ore esančių LOJ tyrimus galima pritaikyti plaučių vėžio, kvėpavimo takų infekcijų bei lėtinių obstrukcinių plaučių ligų diagnostikai.
