La importancia de la gestante indígena es innegable, y lo que competa a disminuir la morbimortalidad de la misma. Dado el interés de proteger este grupo poblacional, es necesario conocer su cultura de manera adecuada, razón por la cual se realizó la presente investigación. Objetivo: Describir las prácticas y los saberes culturales de cuidados de la salud de las gestantes del resguardo Indígena Potreritos, etnia Nasa. Método: estudio cualitativo, etnográfico, en el cual participaron gestantes indígenas de la etnia Nasa, del resguardo potreritos, con gestación entre 32 y 37 semanas, mayores de 18 años. Resultados: surgieron las siguientes categorías: No me gustaba ir a los controles; Conocer el sexo del bebé; Cómo sabía si estaba embarazada; Formas de cuidarse durante el embarazo. Consideraciones finales: En las gestantes del estudio se evidencia una pérdida progresiva del arraigo cultural en algunos aspectos generado por la influencia del sistema occidental. Este no representa daño a la gestante ni al recién nacido, pero si es evidente la incursión de las practicas occidentales como el control prenatal y la preferencia al parto institucional especialmente en gestantes más jóvenes; dicho patrón es coherente con lo que Leininger define en sus tres modos de acción del modelo del sol naciente.
