Four new species of Grotea Cresson are described: Grotea goianiense Herrera-Flórez sp. n., G. paulista Herrera-Flórez sp. n. and G. amazonensis Herrera-Flórez sp. n. from Brazil and G. surinamese Herrera-Flórez sp. n. from Suriname. An identification key to Brazilian and Suriname species of this genus is given. New descriptions for G. delicator (Thunberg 1822) and G. perplexa Slobodchikoff 1970 are provided.
The genus Grotea has 18 described species. A new species, Grotea villosissima
sp. n., is described here and its host information included. This is the first record of Grotea for Colombia.
A new species of Umanella Gauld 1991, U. tricoloripes Herrera-Florez, sp. n., is described from two males collected in Colombia. Umanella tricoloripes sp. nov. differs substantially from the other species of the genus in color pattern.
The Darwin wasp Xorides ater is a solitary idiobiont ectoparasitoid of wood-boring beetle larvae. It occurs across the Palaearctic, and in Switzerland seems to be restricted to areas above 980 m altitude. Very little is known about its biology and behaviour. We here report three separate instances of a female X. ater mating simultaneously with two males, observed on the same occasion on a Picea abies woodpile near Lenk, Switzerland. Only two copulae that involved one male and one female were observed at the same time, which might indicate that this mating mode is rather common in X. ater. We illustrate our observations with photo and video material and compare it to mating behaviour known from other species of Darwin wasps.

The genus Mesostenus Gravenhorst has sixty one described species worldwide. A new species, Mesostenus hypsipylaphagous Herrera-Florez, sp. n. is described and its host given. This is the first record of Mesostenus from Colombia.
The genus Sphelodon Townes has 13 described species, nine species from the Neotropical region, three species from the Nearctic region and one (Sphelodon phoxopteridis) that occurs in both regions. A new species, Sphelodon antioquensis sp. n. is described here. This is the first record of Sphelodon for Colombia. A key to Sphelodon species occurring in the Neotropical Region is provided.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
