Introducción. La fuerza prensil de la mano es un parámetro fundamental por evaluar y para conocer el nivel de fuerza muscular; sin embargo, a nivel nacional son escasos los estudios que determinan la fuerza en extremidades superiores. Objetivo. Evaluar la fuerza prensil de la mano en sujetos aparentemente sanos de la ciudad de Cúcuta, Colombia. Metodología. Estudio transversal, observacional con muestreo no probabilístico de tipo intencional, con participación voluntaria de 162 hombres y 228 mujeres. Todos los resultados en la fuerza prensil de la mano fueron categorizados por sexo, década, mano dominante y mano no dominante. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el paquete estadístico IBM SPSS V.22 bajo un nivel de confianza del 95 % y un p-valor de 0.05 y se realizaron las pruebas de normalidad de Kolmogorov-Smirnov y el análisis de varianza. Resultados. Se evidenció en los hombres en la los rangos de edad de 20 a 29 años el pico más alto de fuerza; no obstante, a partir de allí, a medida que aumenta la edad la fuerza prensil de la mano disminuye. En mujeres se incrementa paulatinamente hasta el rango de edad 30 a 39 años. En el análisis de varianza (p >0.05) se demuestra que no existe diferencia significativa entre la fuerza prensil de mano dominante y no dominante en ningún intervalo de década para hombres y mujeres. Conclusiones. La fuerza prensil de mano aumenta hasta el rango de edad de 30 a 39 en ambos sexos. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la influencia de utilizar diferentes combinaciones de distancias para obtener la velocidad crítica en nadadores. Este estudio descriptivo presento un enfoque cuantitativo y una muestra a conveniencia, los participantes fueron catorce hombres (edad 15,00±1,63 años, peso 52,36±7,80 kg, talla 163,71±8,52 cm, IMC 19,43±1,27 kg/m2, experiencia de entrenamiento en natación 2,57±0,53 años) y seis mujeres (edad±14,00±1,00 años, peso 51,33±7,23 kg, talla 154,00±1,73 cm, IMC 21,68±3,34 kg/m2, experiencia de entrenamiento en natación 2,33±0,58 años). Para determinar la velocidad critica de nado (VC) se utilizaron once posibles combinaciones de dos distancias, tres distancias y cuatro distancias de las diferentes pruebas evaluadas en este estudio (50 m, 100 m, 200 m y 400 m). Para la tabulación y análisis de datos se utilizó el paquete estadístico IBM SPSS V.22 con un nivel de confianza del 95% y un p-valor de 0,05, se aplicaron en este el test de normalidad de Shapiro-Wilk para establecer la distribución de los datos y el Análisis de Varianza (ANOVA) para determinar diferencias significativas entre las medias de cada combinación. Después de analizar los resultados obtenidos se evidencio una distribución normal de los datos (p>0,05), por otro lado, existieron diferencias significativas en hombres (p<0,05) y muy significativas en mujeres (p<0,01) entre las medias de las combinaciones de dos distancias con respecto a la de cuatro distancias. Se concluye que, la combinación de diferentes distancias para determinar la VC si influye significativamente en este índice.
Debido a que algunas clasificaciones de los esfuerzos físicos tienen diversas desventajas y falencias con respecto a la amplia variedad de esfuerzos físicos, en el presente trabajo se postula una nueva clasificación a los esfuerzos físicos: 1) Esfuerzos cortos de intensidades maximales (esfuerzos únicos comprendidos hasta los 30 segundos), 2) Esfuerzos intermitentes cortos de intensidades maximales (esfuerzos comprendidos hasta los 30 segundos y repetidos durante la sesión), 3) Esfuerzos de resistencia a intensidades submaximales a maximales (esfuerzos únicos comprendidos desde los 30 segundos y hasta 1 minuto), 4) Esfuerzos intermitentes de resistencia a intensidades submaximales a maximales (esfuerzos comprendidos desde los 30 segundos y hasta 1 minuto repetidos durante la sesión), 5) Esfuerzos de resistencia a intensidades vigorosas a maximale (esfuerzos únicos superiores a 1 minuto), 6) Esfuerzos intermitentes de resistencia a intensidades vigorosas a maximales (esfuerzos superiores a 1 minuto repetidos durante la sesión).
