The present study aims to evaluate the maximum strength of the wings and then make the difference between those from Romanian Handball League and those from Dinamo Bucharest Club. The sample of participants consisted of 16 male players divided into two groups. The first group included 16 wings (n=16) who participate in the first handball league and the second group included four wing players (n=4), which play for Dinamo Bucharest Sports Club. The maximum strength was measured using maximal repetition (1MR). A series of five 1MR tests were scheduled: Squat, Bench press, Romanian Deadlift, Power clean and Barbell Row. The results of Dinamo Bucharest's wings are superior compared to the results of other wings from national handball league, in four out of five tests. Even if there are differences, they are not statistically significant, p˃0.05 (Squat 144.18±12.15; 96.00±9.83). Nevertheless, the maximum strength of the wing players from the Romanian National League is located at the top of the assessment scales specific to the strength tests. This allowed us to create an overview of the level of handball in our country, regarding the training level of the handball wings.
The purpose of this article is to highlight, following a mixed questionnaire survey, how is the effort capacity of the performance handball players in Romania specialized as a wing, evaluated by specialists working in the men's Handball League, in relation to the athletes with the same position that play at the highest level but also in relation to the general requirements of the top competitions. In this regard, we conducted a questionnaire survey which included 18 mixed questions to which the possible answers were fixed, but also open, which gave the respondents the opportunity to freely express their opinions on the chosen topic. The sample that responded to our questionnaire was represented by 35 specialists that are involved in male handball (coaches, physical trainers, Methodists) with a notable experience in sports training, in order to obtain objective answers based on professional experience and specialized knowledge. The answers received from the specialists highlight the relatively low level of performance from the Romanian male handball, which comes as a consequence of the notable difference between the technical-tactical behaviour of the players specialized for the wing position in the national and international competitions, and of the effort capacity of the wing players at national level, assessed as being of medium level and which is seen as a determining factor for optimizing the performance of the players and implicitly of the teams participating in the top national leagues in Europe.
The purpose of this article is to determine whether there is a link between the effort capacity and the generally recognized value at national level in the case of performance athletes specialized as wing in the Romanian National Men's Handball League. The sample of participants consisted of 20 male players divided into two groups. The first group included 16 wings (n=16) who participate in the first handball league and the second group included four wing players (n=4), which play for Dinamo Bucharest Sports Club. In order to assess the effort capacity, we chose to use the Gacon test, which has a high degree of applicability at the level of performance handball, oriented towards the evaluation of the intermittent running skills of the athlete. Analyzing the performances obtained, we notice that at the level of the National League of Men's Handball, the effort level presents us with an average of 18.68±3.66 with a variability coefficient of 19.61% located on the threshold of average homogeneity and the values obtained by the players specialized as wings that play for Dinamo Bucharest Sports Club, indicate an average of 14.75±2.21, inferior to the group to which they belong, but with the same degree of average homogeneity (15.03%). As a result of the tests carried out, a significant difference is observed between the two groups of subjects when it comes to the distance traveled, the average speed and the aerobic power, but not in terms of heart rate, which indicates that the individual value expressed on the court and generally recognized in the professional handball players specialized as wing is not directly related to their effort capacity.
