Introducción: Más allá de lo vital que es el agua para la supervivencia y el desarrollo de la vida en todas sus formas, también hay que destacar la importancia del agua en la economía debido a que forma parte esencial en procesos de industrialización, producción de alimentos y bebidas, generación de energía, actividades turísticas, minería, agricultura, entre otras. Objetivo: Proponer un modelo de gestión sostenible de los recursos hídricos de la microcuenca alta del río Santa Rosa Metodología: Se realizó una planificación que engloba un proceso metodológico dividido en las siguientes etapas: Análisis teórico, Levantamiento de información socioeconómica y demográfica, Determinación de aspectos e impactos ambientales, Establecimiento del proceso de participación social. El modelo que se propone es un modelo validado por expertos, basado en el método Delphi. Resultados: Se debe prestar especial atención a la remediación del impacto ambiental, así como también a la prevención y reducción de la contaminación del agua a causa de metales pesados generadas por la minería de la zona y aguas servidas. Conclusión: La Gestión del agua generada en la microcuenca alta de Santa Rosa debe desarrollar una estrategia que involucre a la población urbana y rural de Santa Rosa en la preservación del recurso hídrico.
