Os exames de imagem são de uso estratégico na avaliação de agravos à saúde através de atos violentos. A violência contra mulher é um problema de saúde pública, com repercussão tanto para a vida da mesma quanto para a sociedade. O presente trabalho contextualiza a violência contra a mulher através de uma caracterização da demanda pelo serviço radiológico e endoscopia de mulheres vítimas de violência atendidas no ambulatório Para Elas. Tem como amostra de estudo, portanto, atendimentos desenvolvidos no Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (HC-UFMG), onde o ambulatório possui espaço de atuação. Estiveram inseridos em projeto extensão intitulado Para Elas -Por Elas, Por Eles, Por Nós, da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG. Trata-se de um estudo documental do referido projeto que perfez dados de 573 atendimentos conduzidos em 2019. Os resultados apontaram que 21,6% dos atendimentos envolveram encaminhamento das mulheres para realização de exames de imagem de baixa complexidade (raios X) e, em 3,8% dos casos foram submetidas também a exames de alta complexidade (tomografia computadorizada -TC e/ou endoscopia). O número de encaminhamentos foi considerado expressivo, uma vez que os atendimentos foram classificados também em consideração à ausência de violência relatada, violência psicológica, moral e patrimonial, em que não são esperados estudos por imagem. Os resultados são discutidos em consideração ao papel dos exames na abordagem da mulher vítima de violência, importância dos profissionais das técnicas radiológicas no atendimento humanizado, pautado na ética profissional. Discute-se ainda a responsabilidade dos profissionais envolvidos no atendimento quanto à eventual denúncia, uma vez que preconizado por norma técnica do Ministério da Saúde, voltada especificamente às recomendações quanto ao atendimento humanizado, registro de informações e coleta de vestígios. Aponta-se o papel do profissional das técnicas radiológicas neste contexto, no que se refere aos aspectos de qualidade da imagem, para posterior uso na evidência de lesões que podem ser decorrentes de um caso de violência. Os exames de imagem, além de auxiliar no direcionamento do tratamento, são amplamente utilizados como prova em casos que serão tratados judicialmente, exigindo uma discussão sobre responsabilidades e questões éticas pertinentes à atuação dos profissionais.
