% 8 a tipológiai kép egyre árnyaltabbá vált. A 26 27 radiokarbon forradalommal megjelenő 14 C dátumok nagyobb teret engedtek a "hosszú kronológia" 28 keretein belül a Baden típusú anyag időbeli besorolására és a pontos keretek megállapítására. A korábbi Banner féle tipológián alapuló elképzelések a kezdeteket Kr.e. 2400 körülre helyezték, 29 míg Kalicz Kr.e. 2100 körülre tette, Korek pedig a Kr.e. 2350 körüli kialakulást valószínűsítette. 30 31 A 14 C adatok és az égei kapcsolatok (Poliochni) vizsgálatával Neustupný a Baden-anyag első megjelenését Kr.e. 3400 körülre keltezte . A Délkelet-európai feltárások (pl. Ezero, Dikili Tash, 32 33 34 Karanovo, Durankulak, Sitagroi) rétegeinek vizsgálata és a leletanyag tipológiai jellemzői is a 35 36 37 korábbi keltezést erősítették. Raczky Pál 1990-es évek közepén megjelent munkájában a Kr.e. 3600 köröli kialakulást valószínűsítette, amit a gyarapodó 14 C adatok is megerősítenek.
