La baja calidad de los resultados de aprendizaje en ciencias, puede ser atribuido a una enseñanza descontextualizada, que no vincula los contenidos curriculares al entorno social y físico del estudiante ni de la escuela. A su vez, una falta de comprensión del propio territorio local por parte de los estudiantes y de los docentes, dificulta la generación de responsabilidad para con el medio ambiente y como consecuencia el no contar con futuros ciudadanos que sean actores activos de un Desarrollo Sustentable para sus localidades y el país. El ojetivo de este proyecto es promover la inclusión de la Territorialidad como temática multidisciplinaria en el currículo escolar desde el enfoque de Educación para el Desarrollo Sustentable. A través del trabajo con los docentes que enseñan Biología, Química, Física Historia y Geografía en los niveles 1o y 3o de Enseñanza Media del Liceo José Cortés Brown, localizado en la comuna de Viña del Mar.
el contexto chileno, del conocimiento a nivel internacional del papel de la Geografía en las reformulaciones curriculares, esta indagación presenta, una primera visión panorámica sobre la discusión actual en la Educación Geográfi ca. Se seleccionaron 56 publicaciones especializas sometidas a análisis de contenido por categorías a partir de preguntas: ¿qué aprenden los estudiantes al estudiar Geografía?, ¿cuáles son las formas y medios en el aprendizaje de la geografía?, ¿cuál es la Geografía que se enseña y se aprende? Los resultados señalan: una tendencia a describir los tipos de aprendizajes esperados más que a mostrar evidencias de ello; una fuerte interdependencia entre los signifi cados de Geografía y Educación; una manifestación reiterada de la "pugna" Geografía Tradicional-Geografías Renovadas. Se concluye que existen giros en la Educación Geografía hacia la constitución de una mirada didáctica de carácter comprensivo, basada en la renovación geográfi ca y educativa.
El texto presenta la experiencia de formulación y diseñode un proyecto de actualización docente sobre educaciónen riesgos socioambientales, realizado con docentes decuatro ciudades latinoamericanas: Santiago y Valparaíso(Chile), Mendoza (Argentina) y Medellín (Colombia). Dichoproceso permitió al grupo de profesores orientadoresreflexionar su propio quehacer desde un ejercicio colectivo,trascendiendo la particularidad del curso y de loscasos locales, para plantear un posicionamiento sobre laformación continua y la actualización de los docentes enAmérica Latina. Se problematiza la tendencia de restringirla didáctica a las denominadas innovaciones que permitenenseñar más rápido, y se plantea un enfoque elaboradopara la didáctica de la geografía que dialogue con la educacióngeográfica. A partir de ello, se desarrolla una estrategiaen la que cobra valor comparar casos locales comoposibilidad de problematizar lo particular y lo universal enpro de renovar la enseñanza de la geografía.
En la Educación Básica chilena los contenidos de Geografía más relevantes son ubicación espacial, identificación de elementos del Paisaje, sistema de referencias cartográficas y Medio Ambiente. Este concepto es el de mayor presencia en el currículo, careciendo de una clara conceptualización y desposeído de relaciones con otros conceptos geográficos. Se presenta en este texto una aproximación al concepto Medio Ambiente basada en los significados que dan los/as profesores/as, indagando en las relaciones entre Medio Ambiente y contenidos de la Geografía Escolar. Esto, en el marco de una investigación interpretativa con una muestra intencionada de 45 profesores/as rurales de 3 regiones de Chile, realizando entrevistas semiestructuradas, Análisis de Contenido a los datos y Triangulación Teórica. Los resultados muestran tres significados de Medio Ambiente: ligado al cuidado-reciclaje-limpieza, sinónimo de entorno y vinculado a la preocupación por la degradación. Finalmente, algunos profesores/as relacionan Medio Ambiente con problemáticas que debe enseñar la Geografía Escolar.
