Esta investigação problematiza a concepção que alguns professores da rede pública dos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental possuem a respeito do conceito de pontuação, bem como as peculiaridades no ensino desse conteúdo. Para engendrar nossas reflexões, recorremos aos construtos teóricos delineados pela Análise Dialógica do Discurso, tendo como base o conceito de enunciado concreto. Em termos metodológicos, dividimos o trabalho em dois momentos, no primeiro, dada a heterogeneidade sobre conceito de pontuação, procuramos apresentar essa faceta por meio de diversas publicações; no segundo momento, fizemos uma entrevista com seis docentes de uma escola pública do interior paulista, na qual as docentes responderam a duas perguntas abertas relacionadas com os sinais de pontuação. Em nossas considerações finais, podemos perceber nas respostas que algumas docentes não entenderam exatamente os enunciados, pois deveriam responder com base em suas experiências pedagógicas. Elas desviaram do assunto, responsabilizando os alunos e deixando claro um discurso de culpabilização, em que uma das perguntas versava a respeito das dificuldades e facilidades no ensino da pontuação e não as consequências da não aprendizagem da pontuação pelos educandos.
