Abstract:Orpheu magazine, created with the participation of Pessoa and theorized by him, is representative of Portuguese Modernism. This magazine is the place where sensationist aesthetics created by Pessoa became notorious, not only because of the poems published by Álvaro de Campos heteronym, but also for being an aesthetics closely connected to what was proposed by Orpheu. Pessoa called sensationist everything that was produced by Orpheu group. For him, a cosmopolitan art that could embrace all the others in itself would be itself Sensationism, a liberal, large and cozy doctrine. It is in Orpheu magazine that Campos joins literature, publishing his first sensationist poems. Pessoa also looked for disciples for his new movement and found them in Sá-Carneiro and Almada Negreiros, who, with him, are the most notable poets of Orpheu. Perhaps Sensationism, by singularizing Portuguese Modernism, has been the great aesthetic contribution of the group, since it had the magazine as a diffuser.
