O presente estudo buscou identificar as espécies vegetais utilizadas para fins medicinais pelas comunidades do distrito de Carapajó no município de Cametá, Estado do Pará. Durante o trabalho de campo, realizou-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com 23 pessoas. Para as análises qualitativas, foram utilizados os índices de concordância de uso principal (CUP), de concordância (IC) e frequência relativa (FR). Foram listadas 45 etnoespécies de plantas medicinais, distribuídas em 42 gêneros e 31 famílias, entre as quais se destacam Asteraceae (4 spp.), Apocynaceae (3 spp.), Fabaceae (3 spp.), Lamiaceae (3 spp.), Amaranthaceae (2 spp.), Bignoniaceae (2 spp.) e Poaceae (2 spp.) que correspondem a 44,1% das espécies registradas na área. Por outro lado, 24 famílias (55,6%) foram representadas por apenas uma espécie cada. Essas etnoespécies foram citadas por moradores nativos do distrito de Carapajó, os quais usam as folhas (76,7%) dessas plantas em sua maioria para o preparo de chás (97,6%) no tratamento de algumas doenças tais como: diarreia, febre, dor de cabeça, problemas estomacais, anemia, entre outras. Se fez evidente o quão ainda é forte a cultura popular do uso de plantas medicinais no distrito de Carapajó, tal como é em outras comunidades tradicionais, mostrando o tamanho da importância e utilidade desses conhecimentos acerca destas ervas para seus moradores. Diante disto, se faz notória a grande preocupação das erveiras do distrito em relação ao descaso das novas gerações acerca da aprendizagem desses conhecimentos, que possivelmente acarretaria em perda desses conhecimentos.
