Introdução: Malformações de desenvolvimento durante o período embrionário são preocupações na área da saúde, seus efeitos podem variar desde desconfortos estéticos até a incompatibilidade com a vida. No contexto da odontologia a principal malformação relatada são as fendas e fissuras que acometem lábio e palato. Nesse contexto um planejamento antecipado dado por um bom diagnóstico ainda durante o pré-natal infantil pode auxiliar a família no planejamento de medidas para auxiliar no desenvolvimento da criança. Objetivo: Abordar a importância do diagnóstico precoce utilizando ultrassonografia no atendimento do paciente fissurado para a odontopediatria. Metodologia: O estudo foi conduzido como uma revisão integrativa da literatura com análise de conteúdo de modo qualitativo. As bases de dados pesquisadas foram Pubmed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science e Cochrane Library com a estratégia de busca “("Cleft Lip" AND "Cleft Palate") AND ("Prenatal Diagnosis") AND ("Ultrasonography, Prenatal")”. Foram selecionados estudos dos últimos 10 anos que estivessem escritos em português, inglês ou espanhol. Foram excluídos resumos, notas e cartas ao editor. Resultados e Discussão: Ao final da análise foram selecionados 11 estudos que cumpriram com os critérios de inclusão. Todos os artigos demonstraram a utilidade da ultrassonografia no diagnóstico de fendas e fissuras labiais e palatinas a partir do segundo trimestre de gestação. Conclusão: Apesar do método não possuir acurácia total, a ultrassonografia auxilia no diagnóstico de malformações. O cirurgião-dentista deve compreender o exame de imagem de realizar planejamento de intervenções junto a equipe multidisciplinar para possibilitar um acompanhamento humanizado e integral a criança.
