Abstract-Large electrical systems or facilities can be satisfactorily shielded by using low-cost meshed metallic nets. Here the shielding effectiveness for two such planar meshes is calculated analytically and verified both experimentally by using cascaded reverberation chambers as well as numerically with results computed using a full wave electromagnetic solver. It is shown that all three methods agree and, in addition, that non-square shaped aperture meshes can be handled with an equivalent square area shaped aperture.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
