Our objectives were to identify differences and predictors of the mother's knowledge, and behavior related to the child development. Methods: The sample included 466 mothers from the 6 municipalities in the Belgrade. The questionnaires and medical records were used for the data collection. We used χ² analysis and Kruskal Wallis ANOVA for testing knowledge and behavior differences. Multivariate linear regression was conducted to identify significant predictors of mother's behavior. Results: Mother's knowledge, and behavior about child development were substantially different according to mother's education and socioeconomic status of the family. The number of home visits provided by community nurses (patronage nurses), and number of children were the main predictors of the mother' behavior. Conclusion: Understanding the role of the factors influencing parent's knowledge, and behavior may help in improving parent's capacities for their role about child's health.
