This study explores oppression and trauma to ethnic Chinese minority women in Indonesia who experienced rape on the 12 May 1998 tragedy through literary data. The research method used was qualitative-narrative. The data source used was a novel titled Mei Merah (MM). The data analysis technique was carried out through stages that identified literary texts related to women's oppression from ethnic minorities; clarification of literary texts related to the oppression of women from ethnic minorities; data exposure; and data validation. The results show that ethnic Chinese women in Indonesia who experienced rape undergo trauma, impacting their psychological conditions. This was shown through Humaira, the novel’s character, who experienced a phase of trauma, a phase of madness, and a phase of suicide due to rape. It happened because of a profound traumatic experience. Moreover, ethnic minority women who are raped often go abroad to remove traces because they feel ashamed and traumatized by being raped.
This criminal psychology research aims to explore the criminal behavior contained in modern Indonesian literature. This is based on the fact that literature is considered as a creative work that represents elements of criminal behavior that can be viewed from the perspective of criminal psychology. The research method used was qualitative by referring to the interpretation of the text in depth. The data used in the study were literary texts which represent criminal behavior. Data analysis techniques were carried out through the stages of identification, classification, reduction, analysis, exposure, and verification. The result showed that criminal behavior in Indonesian literature is related to corruption, sexual crime, and transnational crime.
This article is a part of an investigative research report on students' behavior towards creative writing using a psychological approach. This research was carried out for one semester (4 months). This study aims to explore experiences in beginner level creative writing classes. As we all know, there have been many studies on creative writing, but only a few which discussed creative writing using psychological approaches. This research focused on problems in learning to write creatively and behavior modification practices in creative writing using a behavioral psychology approach. The method used was qualitative involving 81 participants from the Indonesian Language and Literature Department, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Interviews and questionnaires were used as data collection techniques. The questionnaire is used to capture the difficulties of participants in creative writing. Meanwhile, the interview is used to capture the difficulties experienced by students in creative writing. Interviews are conducted with reflective and flexible techniques. The research findings show that (1) 70 participants answered that the difficulty in creative writing mostly occurred due to psychological problems; and (2) 51 participants answered that their weakness in creative writing mostly because they are lack of talent.. Other findings indicate that students are very enthusiastic about learning creative writing using psychological approaches because this approach is more mental.
Criminology studies are related to crime studies. Criminology studies attract many academics because these studies are dynamic and can be included in various study areas, one of them is the study of criminology that is included in the study of literature. As a form of creation of the author, literature also raises things related to criminology. In this research, criminology is presented in the Indonesian literary essay. In this case, Indonesian literature is limited to Emha Ainun Najib's work in the form of literary essays. This qualitative-interpretive research study uses data sources from Slilit Sang Kiai (2013); Arus Bawah (2015); and Gelandangan di Kampung Sendiri (2015). The theory used in this research is criminology theory. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that Cak Nun as a cultural figure presented crimes in his literary essay, which is as follows. First, based on an analysis of the criminological context, the forms of crime in Emha Ainun Najib's work include, among others (1) crime of environmental destruction; (2) questionnaire manipulation crime; (3) murder crime; (4) crime of prostitution; and (5) white-collar crimes. Secondly, the tendency of crime to emerge in the work of Emha Ainun Najid through her three works, which is more towards the crime of the government to the people. Second, the tendency of crime that is raised in the work of Emha Ainun Najib through his three works are more directed at government crime against the people.
<p style="text-align: justify;">The research explores the narrative inquiry of Indonesian teachers who are assigned to teach in remote areas. The research was conducted from 2019 until 2020. The teachers, in this case, are considered ethnographers because they try to recognize and enter remote island areas that have not been recognized. During this time, in the education context, narrative inquiry is more focused on teacher identity, teaching, curriculum, assessment, and counseling. In terms of narrative inquiry, the teacher as an ethnographer is very interesting to be studied, because it can provide ethnographic insight into the teacher’s perspective. The research used qualitative methods supported by ethnographic studies and involved 21 participants. Data analysis techniques used were the stages of identification, classification, reduction, and verification. The interview used was unstructured. The results show that the teacher as an ethnographer learned the local language in the early stage. The second stage is understanding the cultural situation of the local community. The third stage is the contribution of the teacher to the local community in the education context.</p>
