Cellulolytic fungiwere isolated from rotting leaves and tested for extracellular cellulase activities (CMCase, avicelase, cel]obiase and xylanase). The effect of the proportion of the enzyme activities on the rate of degradation of leached beet cosette was observed using a range of supernatant fluids in appropriate combinations. At low cosette concentrations (1.5-3.0 g/l), avicelase and cellobiase were the rate limiting enzymes; avicelase in the initial stages of reaction and cellobiase after 6-8 hours, when cellobiose inhibition becomes important.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
