El artículo contribuye al debate entre expertos de gestión del riesgo de desastres frente al desafío de la prevención, mitigación y preparación ante emergencia en zonas urbanas altamente complejas. A partir del análisis de un estudio de caso sobre la activación de un proceso de gestión local del riesgo en el Municipio de San Martín (MSM), Argentina, se definen buenas prácticas y lecciones aprendidas para la activación de procesos multidisciplinarios y multiactorales de gestión del riesgo de desastres en contextos urbanos complejos. El trabajo apunta a generar aportes para la elaboración de políticas de gestión integral del riesgo a nivel municipal, provincial y nacional.
