El presente trabajo de investigación parte del estudio comparativo entre la tenencia o no de mascotas en los niveles de estrés de los estudiantes de 17 – 19 años de una institución educativa de Quito en el periodo 2022 – 2023. El cual se trabajó en base a la implementación de un enfoque cuantitativo, con alcance descriptivo – correlacional, de corte trasversal debido a que el principal objetivo es comparar los niveles de estrés de los estudiantes, que poseen mascota frente a los que no poseen mascotas. Se trabajó con el instrumento de Escala de Estrés Percibido (EEP-14) de Cohen, Kamarck, Mermelstein adaptado por el Dr. Eduardo Remor, la cual permite reconocer los niveles de estrés percibido del último mes, la escala fue aplicada de forma virtual y se trabajó con una muestra de 100 estudiantes (50 adolescentes con mascotas y los otros 50 sin mascotas). Los resultados que se evidenciaron en la investigación nos permitieron reconocer la influencia positiva por parte de las mascotas en la vida de los adolescentes, ya que se pudo observar menores niveles de estrés en los adolescentes que cuentan con mascotas en comparación con aquellos que no tienen mascotas.
