Introducción. En los últimos años son muchos los centros educativos que han introducido la mediación entre sus actividades. Sin embargo, la evaluación del servicio es escasa y se suele realizar teniendo en cuenta los acuerdos alcanzados y no el aprendizaje personal de los implicados. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo es conocer los beneficios de la mediación desde una perspectiva transformativa.Método. En una muestra de 157 mediadores (estudiantes de ESO, Bachillerato y antiguos estudiantes) de 10 centros públicos y concertados-privados de Málaga, se ha analizado la autopercepción de validez social y aprendizaje socioafectivo adquirido a través de la participación de los estudiantes en un programa de mediación escolar.Resultados. Los resultados indican una alta percepción de validez social y de adquisición de aprendizajes socioafectivos por parte de los estudiantes mediadores. Dicha percepción positiva sobre la utilidad de la mediación escolar y la adquisión de aprendizajes también son informados por los antiguos mediadores. Discusión y conclusiones. Estos resultados pueden ser válidos a la hora de enfatizar la mediación como una herramienta de resolución de conflictos que conlleva beneficios más allá de la resolución de conflictos, ya que con el desarrollo de esta medida en las escuelas se favorece la adqusición de aprendizajes socioemocionales que perduran en el tiempo.
