This paper discusses the use of parametrization and digital fabrication in architecture proposing a shift from increasing the architect's control over the final product (determinist paradigm), towards increasing users' interaction. It presents the design process of an experimental interactive object intended to meet the former discussion and test the limits and difficulties that might arise during the process. Such an object was developed by Lagear (UFMG), as a response to the exhibition Homo Faber: Digital Fabrication in Latin America, CAAD FUTURES 2015. Neste processo contínuo, o arquiteto passa a det...
Interface urbana digital em Catas Altas (MG): apontamentos para criação de redes plurais e dialógicas This paper discusses the process of production of the prototype of R.I.C.A. (Catas Altas Ideas Network), a digital interface to trigger social transformation in the town of Catas Altas, Minas Gerais, Brazil, which is part of the Masters "From discourse to dialogue: urban digital interfaces for the recovery of the public realm". It introduces Catas Altas and its social inequality showing the imbalance between the power of the mining companies that explore the town and its powerless population. It then presents the action research steps that informed the design of the interface R.I.C.A., both technically and socially, and the first use of the prototype empowering the community to discuss the public space. R.I.C.A.: do social ao políticoA principal premissa da interface R.I.C.A.
This paper presents the development of a telepresence interface intended to investigate the possibility of a "place" for remote meeting. The main goal is to create a shared realm making users act remotely to expand their senses of presence and belonging. By using spatialized sensors and actuators it is possible to transform a room in a telecommunication device. The interface does not seek to replace other telecommunication technologies but to create a new way for autonomous communication which might also complement the existent ones.
