Saúde da mulher. RESUMO Objetivo: Comparar a prevalência da hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS) nas diferentes fases do climatério. Metodologia: Realizou-se um estudo transversal analítico, incluindo 869 mulheres de 40 a 65 anos, selecionadas por processo de amostragem probabilística, no período de agosto de 2014 a agosto de 2015, assistidas pelas Estratégias da Saúde da Família (ESF) do município de Montes Claros/MG, Brasil. Foi utilizado um questionário estruturado e pré-testado, incluindo as variáveis sóciodemográficas (raça, nível de escolaridade e estado civil). Medidas antropométricas como índice de massa corporal (IMC), circunferência da cintura (CC), relação cintura quadril (RCQ) e classificação dos níveis pressóricos (pressão arterial sistólica e diastólica), foram mensuradas através de técnica padrão. Foram analisadas análises descritivas através da porcentagem e análise de comparação entre os grupos (pré; peri e pós-menopausa) através de Mann-Whitney com significância de p <.05. Resultados: Ao comparar a frequência de HAS nas diferentes fases do climatério, observaram-se resultados significativos entre os grupos (pré, peri e pós-menopausa), principalmente entre os extremos pré-menopausa e pós-menopausa (p =.000). Conclusão: Conclui-se que a fase do climatério, evidenciando a pós-menopausa, seja um fator preditor para o acometimento da HAS, sendo importante a execução de programas preventivos principalmente nessa fase do climatério.
