DESCRIPTORES ABSTRACTThe current study has the purpose of verifying if nurses are able to identify situations in which the nonverbal aspects of interpersonal communication between health professionals and patients constitute an iatrogenic factor. The data were collected through semistructured interviews with eight nurses and were analyzed according to the content analysis methodology. Three categories appeared from the professional discourses, and these categories make evident the perception of iatrogenesis, its consequences and characteristics and the interrelation between nonverbal language and nursing care.
Objective: To validate and culturally adapt the Interpersonal Communication Competence Scale to Brazilian Portuguese, bringing about a new tool that can be used by healthcare professionals. Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional validation study using a quantitative and qualitative approach. Factor analysis, principal components analysis with flag 40 and an evaluation of internal correlation through Cronbach's alpha were performed. Results: The final version of the scale was named Escala de Competência em Comunicação Interpessoal and consisted of 17 items and five domains. The Cronbach's alpha across the five domains was 0.71 and between the items it was 0.82. Conclusion: The scale was validated and adapted in relation to the content and the construct with a good correlation index between the domains and items.
Objectives:To design an educational game for the guidance of pregnant women regarding their rights and good practices in the birth process and to validate the content of the textual information and images of the game with the collaboration of judges. Method:This was a methodological, quantitative study. The validation of the content was carried out by 10 judges. Results: Of the 44 cards, only two were questioned and did not achieve 90% agreement, the image of card number 2 (p = 0.01) and the content of card number 9 (p = 0.01). Conclusion: The construction and validation of the content of the game proved to be adequate and feasible for guiding and preparing pregnant women regarding good care practices in the birth process.resumo Objetivos: Elaborar jogo educativo para orientação de gestantes sobre seus direitos e as boas práticas no processo de parir e validar o conteúdo das informações textuais e imagens do jogo com a colaboração de juízes. Objective:Compare the non-verbal communication of children before and during interaction with clowns and compare their vital signs before and after this interaction. Methods:Uncontrolled, intervention, cross-sectional, quantitative study with children admitted to a public university hospital. The intervention was performed by medical students dressed as clowns and included magic tricks, juggling, singing with the children, making soap bubbles and comedic performances. The intervention time was 20min. Vital signs were assessed in two measurements with an interval of 1min immediately before and after the interaction. Non-verbal communication was observed before and during the interaction using the Non-Verbal Communication Template Chart, a tool in which non-verbal behaviors are assessed as effective or ineffective in the interactions. Results:The sample consisted of 41 children with a mean age of 7.6±2.7 years; most were aged 7-11 years (n=23; 56%) and were males (n=26; 63.4%). There was a statistically significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pain and non-verbal behavior of children with the intervention. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure increased and pain scales showed decreased scores. Conclusions:The playful interaction with clowns can be a therapeutic resource to minimize the effects of the stressing environment during the intervention, improve the children's emotional state and reduce the perception of pain.
