Nesse artigo analisamos a tragimoração – termo que alude aos atos de memória (comemorações) que se apropriam de eventos e locais trágicos para trazer à tona questões pulsantes da sociedade – que ocorreu na Argentina durante as comemorações do 20º aniversário do golpe de Estado (24/03/1996). Partindo do importante papel dos jornais na formação de uma memória pública, e no caráter transnacional do debate de direitos humanos nos anos 1990, contrapomos as publicações sobre direitos humanos e exílio nos periódicos Clarín e La Nación (Argentina) e no El País (Espanha) entre os dias 19 e 25 de março de 1996. A escolha pelo país ibérico se deu pela sua importância como receptor do exílio e pela abertura de processos contra militares argentinos acusados de violações de direitos humanos em 1996.
