Dentro de la sección Memoria, que recoge proyectos y actuaciones fundamentalmente llevados a cabo en el Centro de Intervención del IAPH, se recoge esta conservación-restauración realizada sobre la Crátera de Toya, un vaso de figuras rojas sobre fondo negro encontrado en una de las más destacadas necrópolis ibéricas de la Alta Andalucía. El vaso, de origen griego, representa un objeto de lujo importado entre finales del siglo V y la primera mitad del siglo IV a.C., una época de apogeo cultural y económico de los pueblos ibéricos de la Alta Andalucía. El artículo aporta una extensa descripción del proceso de intervención: técnica de elaboración de la obra, estado de conservación e intervenciones anteriores, estudio analítico, tratamiento realizado y, por último, sistema expositivo aconsejado.
El artículo analiza los antecedentes históricos en la elaboración y aplicación de técnicas para la preservación de materiales diversos, hasta llegar a la creación de la técnica de la plastinación en 1978. Este método de preservación de material orgánico se ha adoptado como herramienta de trabajo en el tratamiento de materiales arqueológicos de procedencia subacuática, a cargo del Centro de Arqueología Subacuática del IAPH. A lo largo de 2006 y 2007 se ha utilizado dicha t écnica en la conservación de unas maderas de época romana aparecidas en la ciudad de Huelva
