Objetivo: relatar a experiência dos acadêmicos de enfermagem em um centro cirúrgico de Manaus, referente ao desenvolvimento de ansiedade de pacientes no perioperatório. Método: O estudo trata-se de um relato de experiência, realizado em um Centro Cirúrgico e Sala de Recuperação Anestésica de um hospital de referência em cirurgia geral na zona norte da cidade Manaus, no período de agosto de 2019 a junho de 2020. Resultado: Nesse contexto, ansiedade e medo são sentimentos presentes em todos os pacientes que serão submetidos há um procedimento cirúrgico, sendo estes sentimentos inclusos no segundo nível de prioridade que envolvem as necessidades sociocultural, espiritual e segurança psicológica, corroborando assim com a teoria das necessidades humanas básicas. Conclusão: Desse modo, a enfermagem assume responsabilidades e intervenções naturais ao cuidado com esses pacientes, por serem o profissional mais próximo no dia-a-dia durante o período de internação, o que requer um amplo conhecimento que vão além de sua competência profissional, buscando tornar aquele momento de incertezas em um ambiente mais esclarecido, confiável e confortável ao paciente.
