Este estudo avaliou a toxicidade e a atividade antimicrobiana frente a Escherichia coli e Staphylococcus aureus dos óleos essenciais de Pimenta dioica Lindl. e Citrus sinensis L. Os óleos essenciais (OE) foram extraídos por hidrodestilação, com caracterização química através de cromatografia gasosa acoplada a espectrometria de massas (CG-EM). Os parâmetros físico-químicos foram determinados de acordo com a Farmacopeia Brasileira. O ensaio de toxicidade seguiu o bioensaio com Artemia salina Leach, os OE aprovados neste ensaio seguiram para avaliação das suas propriedades biológicas. A atividade antimicrobiana seguiu a metodologia descrita pelo Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute utilizando o método de difusão de disco, diluição em caldo para concentração inibitória mínima (CIM) e posterior concentração bactericida mínima para avaliar a ação dos OE frente a Escherichia coli e Staphylococcus aureus. Ambos os OE apresentaram toxicidade baixa, e assim foram avaliados quanto as propriedades biológicas antimicrobianas. Ambos os OE apresentaram potenciais bactericidas frente aos microrganismos testados, exibindo resultados satisfatórios para a ação deles. Os resultados indicam que os OE avaliados são compostos por substâncias que propiciam e incentivam sua aplicação em virtude de seus potenciais para atividade biológicas moluscicida e antimicrobiana.
Objetivo: Relatar o caso de uma paciente que desencadeou um quadro de asma brônquica após a infecção por SARS-CoV-2. Detalhamento do caso: O caso descrito é de uma paciente do sexo feminino, não tabagista, não diabética, 55 anos, enfermeira, parda, sem histórico de asma. A paciente apresentou sintomatologia para Covid-19 e foi diagnosticada em 20/06/2020. Um mês após término dos sintomas, a paciente apresentou indisposição, fadiga e tosse seca, levando-a a procurar a Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA). Posteriormente, com a persistência e intensificação dos sintomas, a paciente procurou um pneumologista. Após avaliação clínica, dos exames de imagem e espirometria, descartou-se diagnósticos clínicos e foi prescrito relvar 100/25mcg por dia. Contudo, não houve efeito. Os novos episódios cursaram com dispneia. Prontamente, houve a busca por um segundo pneumologista. Na avaliação clínica, foram identificados sibilos à ausculta e solicitados exames de imagem. Assim, houve o diagnóstico clínico de asma. Destarte, a dose do Relvar passou para 200/25mcg com resposta terapêutica satisfatória. Nesse cenário, foi possível avaliar a associação entre SARS-CoV-2 e asma. Considerações finais: Tal discussão é relevante para o âmbito científico dado a escassez de relatos na literatura sobre o desenvolvimento de asma decorrente da infecção por Covid-19.
