The purpose of this paper was to provide empirical evidence of the impact of quality assurance in higher education on two relevant higher education outcomes; students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies; and their employability. Survey data were collected from two major Romanian public universities and analyzed using a partial least-squares structural equations modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The main results suggested that students’ competencies were positively and directly influenced by the quality of the educational process, as well as the practical and research activities. The students’ chances of employment in the labor market were positively and directly influenced only by the quality of the educational process and by the research activities. Indirect influences were also revealed. The findings of the study may be shown to have theoretical implications by proposing a model that links the features of quality management in higher education institutions with students’ competencies and chances of employment in the labor market. From a practical perspective, the results may be of interest to higher education policy makers, to evaluation and accreditation institutions, to universities, and also to students.
The concepts of decision-making process and performance are two subjects that are interconnected in the existing articles in the scientific literature. The purpose of this paper is to provide, using bibliometric techniques, a review of the evolution of existing research on the relationship between decision making process and performance concepts. In this respect, 1516 articles published between 2000 and 2018 and indexed in the Web of Science database were analyzed. The main results of this research are obtained from three types of analysis: an analysis of the 1516 selected papers, an analysis of the citations received from these articles and an analysis of the keywords. Thus, the most important findings illustrate how the number of papers related to the analyzed topic evolved in time, in which journals the most articles related to this topic appear, which are the authors and the institutions with the highest contributions on the topic. Also, the results highlight which are the most cited articles. Furthermore, the main results show a mapping and clustering of keywords that allow the analysis of the links between them, based on the information provided by the VOSviewer software. This research becomes useful to researchers and practitioners interested in the analyzed subject, helping to identify new research directions starting from an analysis of the scientific literature.
The information technology (IT) sector represents a phenomenon of modern society, which has led to a favorable change in the economic course, in most countries of the world. This study aims to establish the attractiveness of the IT industry in Romania, as well as the factors that led to the development of the competitive environment, through a strategic diagnosis using a tool for strategic analysis and diagnosis - the model of the five forces, developed by Michael Porter. The results of the study indicate that all five strengths of Michael Porter's model exert significant influence, but in different proportions, on the competitive environment and the degree of attractiveness of the IT industry. Although Porter's model offers a clear strategic frame of the IT industry, it is quite static, and the manifestation of the five forces does not maintain its validity over time.
Over the last 20 years, there have been significant changes in the retail sector, which have been mainly influenced by technological advances, that have radically transformed the customer experience. This research contributes to the enrichment of the existing literature by examining new purchasing trends concerning the transition to the online environment caused by the COVID19 pandemic. For an indepth understanding of the topic, five determinants of the purchasing decision were identified: informativeness, social presence, sensory marketing, product type and brand trust. This study researched, using multi-line analysis, how these factors influence the customer degree of satisfaction regarding online and physical stores. The main results show that customer satisfaction is differently influenced by these factors, depending on the type of store, namely online or physical. These findings demonstrate that companies should adopt different business strategies, focusing on sensory marketing in physical stores and brand trust, together with informativeness in the online ones.
Over time, the participation of young people in education and the labor market has been pursued and it has been shown that working during college leads to an increase in employment opportunities after the completion of studies, and in the current context of society the student status is no longer sufficient. The interpretation of this dual role of student-employee has become an important source of stress. In this regard, this paper aims to identify the links between different factors of stress at work and faculty and the work and academic performance obtained by students.The paper is based on a research conducted at the level of 115 students from The Bucharest University of Economic Studies and multiple linear regression analyses were used to determine the links between different stressors and performance. The main results illustrate the influence between workplace stressors and workplace performance, between academic stressors and academic performance, between workplace stressors and academic performance and between academic stressors and workplace performance. Furthermore, the results suggest that this study can make some practical contributions both to students and to universities and managers.
