The study was conducted in three campuses of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar viz. Bhubaneswar, Chiplima and Bhawanipatna in 2019 to measure the job satisfaction of teachers working in the University. Ninety respondents from these three campuses were selected for the study using a random sampling procedure. Data was collected from the respondents by implementing personal interview method. Job satisfaction of teachers was measured with the help of a scale with slight modifications. Majority of teachers possessed medium level of overall job satisfaction while working in the University. Majority of the variables were found to have a significant positive association to the dependent variable. In addition, variables such as level of aspiration, achievement motivation, perceived workload, mass media exposure, job stress, awards and recognition along with awards and recognition were found to show significantly positively contributing to as well as explaining about sixty three percent variation of the dependent variable.
Understanding farmers’ attitude is instrumental in initiating/formulating any strategy to promote the adoption of technology. A scale was developed to analyze the attitude of women farmers towards climate-resilient dairy farming practices. A list of 50 statements comprising both positive and negative statements were collated and refined based on Edward’s 14 principles and 35 statements were retained for administering to women farmers from non-sampling area for further analysis. Finally, “t” value for each statement, and found that 17 statements were having “t” value greater than 1.75. The 17 statements were rained for the final scale and administered for reliability and validity testing. Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.786 confirmed the internal consistency of the developed scale. The content validity of the scale was ascertained based on the judgment of the experts. The final developed scale can be used to measure the attitude of women farmers on climate-resilient dairy farming practices in the present context and beyond the study area with modifications.
Increasing commercialization of dairy farming, diversity of products, consumer awareness and unlimited access to various information might have influenced the perception of consumers which finally affect their purchasing behaviour. Present study attempts to study the perception of consumers on dairy farming and milk consumption by analysing primary data collected from 270 milk consuming households using a Perception Index constructed for the purpose. The overall perception index was estimated to be 68, indicating that consumers have a favourable perception of milk consumption and dairy farming. Consumer households had higher positive perception on nutrition and health effects of milk (79.33) and economic benefits of dairy farming (77.56). However, they were concerned about milk safety (53.54) and ethical aspects (57.03). Stringent quality control, inspection and monitoring are required for ensuring safe milk so that the apprehensions in the mind of consumers can be removed. Efforts also needs to be directed towards animal welfare.
Conservation agriculture has recently been a hot topic of agricultural research and has generated significant global interest. Conservation agriculture has three core principles: minimal soil disturbance, permanent soil cover, and crop rotations. The research on this topic has also witnessed a boom in recent years as the number of peer-reviewed literature on conservation agriculture is rising exponentially. This study critically examines all the peer-reviewed documents published on conservation agriculture from the 1990s to 2021 and indexed in the web of science core database. The search returned 3023 documents, which were then processed in the R-based bibliometric package for annual scientific production trend, source, author, document, citation, keyword analysis, and co-occurrence networking using VOSviewer. Our findings show remarkable growth in conservation agriculture research in recent times, although it witnessed a shortfall in 2021. Notably, 15 core source journals contribute the most to the field, while 8692 researchers have authored or co-authored at least a document on conservation agriculture. While the USA, India, and Australia are front runners in conservation agriculture research, the spread of the topic is worldwide.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
