O Brasil ocupa a terceira posição na produção de milho (Zea mays L.) no mundo. Essa colocação poderá se elevar, em vista da intensificação dos investimentos em tecnologia. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do número de aplicações de inseticidas em híbridos de milho Bt e convencional nas variáveis: altura de planta (m), altura de inserção de espiga (m) e produtividade (kg ha-1), em sistema de plantio direto, sendo utilizados os mesmos insumos e tratos culturais para todos os tratamentos. O experimento foi conduzido na forma de parcelas subdivididas e em blocos com tratamentos casualizados, com 3 tratamentos e 4 repetições. Cada parcela foi composta por uma linha de 6 m de comprimento, com espaçamento de 0,6 m entre linhas e 0,2 m entre plantas, cultivado na "safrinha" 2010, no município de Cascavel-PR. Observando o comportamento das variáveis analisadas pode se inferir que três aplicações apresentaram valores mais elevados na altura de planta e produtividade; para inserção, não foram encontradas diferenças com os tratamentos com uma e três aplicações, porém, apresentaram desempenho superior ao tratamento com uma e duas aplicações. A maior produtividade foi encontrada para o híbrido IMPACTO TL, 6.205,75 kg ha-1 .
