The publication of the pottery from the excavation at Neuville-Saint-Amand follows up the previous paper dealing with the excavation as a whole. The items studied, that is 6 889 sherds, come from two distinct chronological phases : Iron Age (early La Tène -late La Tène) and Antiquity (1st to 4th century AD). The Iron Age pottery mentioned in Part 1 of the paper belongs to the local La Tène facies. The Roman pottery, more plentiful, fell readily into 4 categories according to chronological phases. It belongs, too, to the local context, and more precisely to the civitas of the Viromandui, as most of the pottery comes from workshops attached to this civitas : Noyon, Saint-Quentin, Vermand. Most of the remaining ware comes from the neighbouring civitates of the Suessiones, Atrebates, Nervii and Remi. A small proportion, that is the Samian ware, and the coated and metallized wares, comes from more distant areas, connected to a dynamic trading network covering the whole of Gaul. This paper presents these trading practices as attested by typology and paste analysis.
